Merry Yankees Christmas To All

Yankees.xmas.ornament.jpg
In case anybody’s out there reading instead of celebrating, I wanted to wish you a very Merry Christmas. I won’t be posting this weekend unless something earth-shattering happens (Cashman could still give us a starting pitcher by Saturday morning if he really, really wanted to; he did rappel down a tall building, after all), but most likely I’ll pick things up again on Monday. Cheers!

    ‘Twas the nite before Christmas,
    When all thru the land,
    Not a critter was stirring,
    Not even She-Fan!
Red Stockings were hung by the chimney, and stuffed
They knew that St. Nicholas left them all puffed
While Ma in her nightie, and me in Yanks cap
Had just settled down for a long winter’s nap…
When down in the basement arose such a clatter
I rose, yelled at kids, saying “What is the MATTER?”
Then what to my deep-dreaming eyes should appear
But a phat-lookin’ sleigh with 8 pinstriped reindeer!
And a red-suited Cash Man, alongside he came,
With helper Girardi, he called them by name:
    “On, Jeter…on, A-Rod…on, CC…on, Mo…
    On, Tex…on, Posada…on, Grandy…Cano!”…
Some winks from their eyes, and remarks that they said
It gave me the feeling I’d nothing to dread…
They seemed all so confident, tapping my belly
That I laughed when I looked, like some cranberry jelly…
And I heard them all say, ‘fore they whisked outa sight…
Merry Christmas, Yanks fans…it’s gonna be all right!”

Oh Yankee Fans of little faith, fear not for wonderful things are on the horizon. Enjoy the Holiday season knowing that A STAR FILLED DEAL IS IN THE WORKS! Merry Christmas to all!

Dave, you’ve outdone yourself. That Christmas poem was absolutely stellar! I think you should send it out to all your Yankee fan friends. My favorite part was the last line. It really gave me hope for the future.

Oh, Barbara. You do put yourself in perilous situations. I hope your weekend with the Phillies and Red Sox fans goes better than you expect and they treat you with the respect that a fan of the pinstripes deserves!

A star filled deal is in the works, John? I’ll take your word for it and it’ll make my Christmas that much more merry. Thank you!

Thanks, Kristen. We have sunshine – a Christmas miracle here in SoCal. It’ll be fun not having to feel soggy for a couple of days, won’t it? Merry Merry to you.

It does help my mental state to think Andy’s coming back, Paul. It’s just that his heart needs to be in it – for real.

    Jane,
    Come on.
You know I will be posting a Christmas special tomorrow ( as usual). Or maybe I will take your lead and possibly rewrite or configure one from the past two years.
Still having trouble deciding on a decade or year 2010 Top 10 list sometime for next Friday…..If I am not out drinking ( crossing fingers, toes and eyeballs).

My, Renegade. I didn’t know you were fluent in so many languages! Impressive! Looking forward to whatever you end up posting as your blog is always so entertaining. Merry Merry.

Have a wonderful holiday season, Jane! Time to enjoy our friends and family until we have to return to the throes of inaction in the Yankees Universe! Here’s to hoping that Brian Cashman gets a trick or two up his sleeve for Christmas!

Thanks, Scott. Here’s hoping that Cashman wakes up out of his coma!

Same to you, Jenn! Hope you’re having a great day.

Right back at you, cheshirecat! Long time since you’ve been here so I hope all is well with you.

I did have a good Christmas, Virginia, and hope you did too. Cliff Lee? Who’s he? Lol. I wouldn’t hold your breath for Damon.

Same to you, Jeff. Very cool that you spent time with Allen and had a Jeff Bridges Fest. I had a feeling you’d love True Grit.
