Look What Brian Cashman Sent Me!
Really thoughtful of the Yankees’ GM to put me on his holiday cards list this year – a card featuring our starting rotation for 2011. And what surprises his card contained! Who knew, for example, that Phil Hughes had “lead singer” in him even with CC around or that AJ was such a wild man (well, we kind of knew that). Also, what a clever way of letting me know that Pettitte has decided to pitch another year for us. But the biggest surprise of all was seeing Felix Hernandez in the band. I had a hunch we wouldn’t be stuck with Mitre filling out the rotation or even Nova; Cash had much more lofty ambitions and I’m very grateful for that. Rock on, Yankees.

You crack me up, Jane! Dream big!
That was, like, bitchen. Fer sure. Like, totally. Sorry, Miz J, that’s like the only “Old Californian” that I know…
Hey…like Jeff says…we can dream BIG, can’t we? Like when you’re having an incredibly sexy dream, and wake up noticing that THE DOG is licking your foot…or your leg…um, nevermind!!
After all, it’s nearly Xmas, and maybe Santa’s got sumthin’ in the big ol’ bag for us other than a lump of coal…?
I’m gonna venture the First Guess on Pinstripe Birthday’s trivia Q…what I remember is who the Yanks acquired in their trading of Murcer, but it may be the wrong answer…my memory of who played what OF position is a bit shaky…oh, well…how about Bobby Bonds?!
You need to do a Spinal Tap style rockumentary.
I love the way you make use of creative online resources in your posts. Great stuff Jane. Happy Holidays to Confessions of a She-Fan from Pinstripe Birthdays.
The Pinstripe Birthday Trivia question for December 21st is:
Today’s Pinstripe Birthday celebrant replaced Bobby Murcer as the Yankee’s starting center fielder in 1974. Who is he?
I do dream big, Jeff. That’s the problem!
I keep thinking we’ll get a Christmas miracle surprise too, Dave. Hence the video. But I think I’ve been watching too much “It’s a Wonderful Life,” which I always do at this time of year.
Isn’t that what I did, Paul? I thought my video was very “Spinal Tap” like. OK, maybe not.
Happy Holidays to you too, pinstripebirthdays. I’m terrible at trivia, even Yankees trivia, so I’ll go with Dave’s answer and say Bonds?
Brilliant! I I love JibJab!
Well, more typical recruitment efforts clearly aren’t working for anyone this year. Maybe bonding with a targeted player in a hair band cover band is the contract negotiation secret weapon of the future.
Sometimes we have to go the extra mile in our recruitment tactics, Kristen. I figured if I put King Felix in the band – and gave him some cool hair – he’d beg the Mariners to let him come to the Yankees.
Trying to stay dry? I am so sick of wearing rain boots and my raincoat wants a break from of me or me of it. I love rain but not this much and tonight is supposed to be the worst. Well, as long as for the Rose Parade is dry ’cause I a friend is coming this way from St Louis to watch her first parade and I agreed to go with her.
curious to see that card when I get home.
Emma, I’m so sick of this rain. It’s pouring here again with heavier downpours expected tonight and tomorrow. Be safe!
Thanks, Mike. You too!
Those eCards are always a lot of fun. Have a great Holiday Season!
‘Minoring In Baseball’
I did not even see this until you mentioned it on my blog.
OMG! I am embarrassed now. Maybe it is not too late to pull mine and do a CC/Dan Wheeler/ Carlos Pena versus the Rays snowball fight video.
I swear it was not intentional….
Don’t you dare be embarrassed, Renegade! As I said on your blog, great minds think alike. I think it’s cool that we both went to the same place in our brains. lol
