No Harm, No Foul

Helmeted Guinea Fowl.jpg
Or fowl. Whichever. The point is that the Yankees’ loss to the Jays today had no impact on the standings. Yes, it would have been lovely to go up a game on Tampa and Boston, but we’ll have to settle for a wash.
Would I feel better if Huuuughes hadn’t served up those homers? Yeah. Would I like Jonathan Abs more if he didn’t hit the first batter he faced? Sure. But with Cano getting a day off and Swisher hurt, it wasn’t exactly our strongest lineup in years. And let’s face it: we’d all love to love Lance Berkman but he’s making it tough. As my editor said on Friday when we went to the game: “Berkman is too schlubby to be a Yankee.”
I’m rooting for Berkman, I really am. But more production would be very welcome. Oh, one more thing. Did everyone see that play Tex made? I know, I know. He makes them all the time, but today he grabbed that liner and then doubled the runner up, and I actually gasped. The guy is just a phenomenal first baseman.

Hi Jane & Fellow Baseball Fans…

I just wanted to wish everyone a safe & happy Labor Day…my last day of vacation. I’m off to the Yankee game and hoping they start a new winning streak. Here’s to the “good” AJ showing up ….

    Go Yankees 2010 !!!!!

Happy Labor Day to you too, Peggy. I’ll be thinking of you at the game today and hoping you can lead us to victory (with Good AJ).

This is definitely the month for wins and loses to make or break a team… now I found a picture of me in a Yankees hat from years ago which I thought was scary but that one of whatever it is just plain frightening…

I agree with red, never show that picture again. I do agree with your editor too Jane, how did they find a guy fatter then Nick Johnson? This game with the O’s ain’t looking too good either, I hope they’re not trying to spite AJ 😛

  5. Jane Heller

A pic of you in a Yankee hat, Peter? Now that I have to see.

That car wash picture made you puke, Jeff? My, you’re very pukable. 🙂

It made me laugh too, Paul. I think Jeff must be the squeamish type.

Nick Johnson wasn’t fat, seindsfeld – just kind of un-athletic looking, in my opinion. I wouldn’t call Berkman fat either. As my editor said, he’s schlubby!

Happy Labor Day to you, Emma. Hope you had a good one.

Wonder if Fat Elvis is the same guy who gets up at 2 am to make the donuts?
We all know that giving up hit is the democratic thing to do, but sometimes homers can be the end of civilization as we know it.
Seriously, I talked to an unknown Ray last night and he told me someone within the Rays clubhouse was all for stepping on a certain teams neck tonight and twisting until they stop breathing. Might seem a bit overdramatic, but it got the point across firmly. Time to put down the Boston creme pie donuts and focus on the prize.
In NYC speak, it would be time to put down the Papaya Dog.
    Just sayin’.

I’ll be switching back and forth tonight, Renegade, to see if the Yankees can beat the O’s and CC can win #20 – AND the Rays do step on the neck of a certain team. Should be an interesting evening.

I’m pretty disturbed by the elvis picture. Might not want to read a blog ever again now. lol I don’t like surprises like that. hehehehe.

I forgot to add…I think you should ad a pic of Tino Martinez to counter that Elvis pic. I need to get my mind of that horrid pic. lol

Gee, sorry the pic freaked you out, Sheena. It’s a fat guy in an Elvis suit. Didn’t realize it would traumatize people!
