A Wild One But I’ll Take It

Sure, I would have preferred that CC had his best stuff tonight. I would have liked it if the bullpen hadn’t turned the game into an adventure, too. But the bats were flying in the Windy City.
How cool was it to see Nunez hit his first major league homer and then knock in four RBIs total? And Thames continues to batter lefties and Swisher loves showing off for his old team/manager and Posada keeps on proving he’s still the best offensive catcher around. What a turnaround from last night’s fiasco. Naturally, there had to be another injury though. Tex’s thumb? I mean, come on. It better be just a busted nail or something.

Anyhow, this was a huge win to keep us tied with the Rays, and it’ll be up to young Ivan Nova to reassure me that our starting rotation isn’t completely messed up.
Speaking of young, I spent the afternoon at my mother’s where “family day” included my little great-nephew Evan. He marched in wearing his Yankees backpack and proceeded to entertain everybody with his antics. Only when I asked him to talk about the Yanks on the She-Fan Cam did he get a little shy…like for a second.

Really, the only thing I will comment on is:
Why did Kearns miss that fly ball in the ninth? It cost Robertson an ER.

Yay, Yankees win! It was close though. And I read that Houdini is sporting the high socks again. Evan is so cute! I wish I had my she-fan cam with me today. I also talked to cute little fans about baseball at work. The little boy I talked to was wearing a Yankees shirt, but his big brother was wearing a Rays shirt. We informed his big brother that there was NO WAY the Rays were going to clinch the AL East pennant. Good night, fans! – Becky ๐Ÿ˜€

I missed tonights game too, but I wasn’t worried with C.C. on the mound. I actually went to see The Other Guys. I thought it was pretty funny, and enjoyed it, probably because of the Jeter references. ๐Ÿ™‚
I heard things got interesting, but in the end we won. I’m so proud of C.C. though. 18 wins is incredible! I hope this is the year he becomes a 20 game winner. I ended up catching the last inning of the game. It was… awkward to watch Kearns miss that fly ball. Oh and I heard Nunez had a big night. Good for him! I really like what I’ve seen from him so far. From the highlights, looks like a pretty crazy game but glad we got the win.

See what I was telling you last night is happening. We are on the same wavelengths this weekend, and neither of us seem to want to gain ground or even pull ahead right now.
Must be a case of keeping your enemies close.
I was watching the out of town scoreboard during the Rays game and was noticing the pinball like scoring going on at odd times in the game.
Got to be honest with you, the Chicago White Sox are the Wild Card team behind the Red Sox right now, and ever loss you pop on them throws them deeper into the fryer…..Burn baby burn!

Kearns has been a pretty decent pickup for us, yankeesfan27. Certainly better than I expected. So I’ll give him a pass for that play. I was more worried about Swisher playing first base, but he did OK.

I’m a sucker for little kids who are fans, Becky. They’re so cute, plus it’s nice to see them indoctrinated early in life so they’ll support our team forever!

I still want to see The Other Guys, Sarah. Even if Jeter is only in it for five minutes, it would be worth it. Yeah, you missed a wild one. CC wasn’t his dominant self early on, but he settled down and pitched really well for the later innings. That 20-game mark is looking better and better for him. Great to see Nunez hit his first homer and then keep coming up big at the plate.

I’m happy to oblige, Renegade. You won yours. We won ours. Gotta keep it rolling. We have to turn the heat up today so we can pop both of those Sox teams into the fryer.

I should have, Paul. He probably would have said, “Who?”

Yeah, Tex is out today, Mike. Not happy about it, but it doesn’t sound too serious so the Yanks will have to manage without him for a couple of days. Here it comes: Grrrrr.

I hope we can take another one from the White Sox; not only would it help our beloved Yankees, but also my husband and son’s Twins. My almost 5 year old started fall ball yesterday and he happened to get number 7 for his uniform! Just like Joe Mauer!! He was so excited. If you ask him who his favorite players are he’ll say Mauer and Jeter. The other night my co-worker asked him if he knew who Manny played for and he correctly (for now) answered “The Dodgers!” Maybe I can capture it on video sometime.

I haven’t had a chance to see The Other Guys. I agree that I have to see it only if Jeter is in for a short time. Hope your vacation is going well. I second you on that Grrrrrrrrr! No more injuries!!

Very cute about your son, dj. Be sure to tell him that #7 was also the number of Mickey Mantle, the Yankee I idolized when I was growing up. And yes, let’s see him on video!

Jane! Your great nephew is awesome. When I was five I think I saw my first baseball game….but it was with the Mets :@ It’s before my family got into baseball. We were more into football. That game was crazy I remember. Do you think CC has any chance to win the Cy Young?

  10. Jane Heller

I do think CC has a shot at Cy Young, seindsfeld, especially if he wins 20 games, which is likely. I’d love to see it happen.
