Minka and Jeet’s First Dance at the Wedding

Ever since it was reported that The Captain and Minka were tying the knot in November, there’s been speculation about whether or not the story is a hoax. I still think it’s his sister who’s walking down the aisle at Oheka Castle.
Jeter never struck me as the castle type. On the other hand, he’s building one of his own on that private island near Tampa, so what do I know? Maybe he likes the idea of an enormous place where he and Minka can hang out with his Yankees buddies and their wives.
And the castle does have aura and mystique at night.
It’s certainly roomy enough so that all the Yankees can be invited, even Lonn Trost.
And how about the reception? It would be beautiful at the castle.
Of course, when I saw the dance floor it occurred to me that Derek and Minka will need to have the requisite “first dance.” I wonder what their special song is. And will he wear his batting helmet when he takes his bride for a spin? I doubt it, but I figured they should at least practice for the big occasion.

I never knew what the castle really looked like. It’s pretty awesome! It should be a fun night, maybe the Yankee’s starting lineup will do a dance number during the celebration for you, Jane!

Jes, the “real story,” according to the Sports By Brooks site, is that it’s Jeter’s sister who’s getting married in November.

But who knows? Maybe he’ll scoop us all and do the deed before the season starts.

The castle is amazing, FBC. I had no idea what it looked like until I went on the web site and checked out the pics. It’s definitely fit for a “captain.” And yes, they can all do a dance number for me any time. LOL.

Looks to me like you and Damon must have spent some time coaching Jeter and Minka on their dance moves!

thanks for the morning smile. i had a co worker ask me this week why he was waiting all the way until november to get married and i said well he’ll be busy playing the pre season, regular season and the post season, including the world series, until then. she said she didn’t think about that. clearly not a baseball fan but at least that means she’s not a sox fan.

Jeff, I wouldn’t invite Giambi to the wedding either. But seeing Giambi in his Golden Thong at the Bachelor Party would be a riot!!
Jane…the grapevine over hear is saying it is a rumor only. Over the radio it’s been said “reports” are that Jeter himself denied the rumors. But unlike almost any other big time star athlete here in NYC, because Jeter is Jeter respectfully, the media hound dogs let him live his life. So Jane, I don’t have clairvoyance into his status either. sorry. Last thing, look at the smile on Jeter’s face and go back to the look on Johnny’s face while they danced on the floor….I’m just saying. I wonder if they shop in the same clothing store? ; )

Since his house in Tampa will be right on the channel there near Davis Island, he could always have a “go” at the sea life and maybe buy his own USS Captain to begin his days by sailing through the calm waters of Tampa Bay before his Yankees play against the Rays. He could tie up the cruiser during the day in the isolated inlet just south of the at the team’s hotel the Vinoy by day and entertain or transport teammates to his exclusive digs by night.
He could be the host of nightly excursions out onto the calm waters of the bay and delight teammates with the flashing lights and sites by water of this region.
But then again, that is just my idea………But Minka would look great in a First Mate’s outfit…….just saying.

Lots of rumors out there, 23gonzalez. It’s that time of year when nothing much is happening in the baseball world. Sorry about Kouz going to the A’s, btw.

I’m hoping Jeter will hire me as his wedding planner, Melissa. Even if he’s not getting married at the castle in November, it’s never too early to start my campaign.

Barbara, that November 5th date cuts it too close to the World Series. Would Jeter really schedule a huge, elaborate wedding right around the time he’d be riding on a float at the championship parade? (Wishful thinking, I know, but I can’t help it.)

Hi, Harold. I know you’re there!

I don’t think Jeter would invite Giambi, Jeff. They weren’t that close. But A-Rod would probably come with two or three dates!

Thanks, cheshirecat. It’s never too late to say Happy Birthday.

Paul, I could be like that Salahi woman (or whatever her name is) who crashed the White House dinner. Maybe I could get the same red dress. Think anyone would notice?

Jeter did look a lot happier dancing than Damon did, Mike. And I thought it was sweet that he wore his batting helmet in case he took a tumble or got knocked in the head by Minka. Disco dancing can be hazardous to one’s health.

I think your idea is excellent, Renegade. If I were Jeter, I’d hire a yacht. I’d have the ceremony at his mansion and then everybody would board the yacht and the reception could be along those waterways until the wee hours. I have to laugh. You guys really do like Minka!
