And My Tarot Card Reader Says….Yankees Will Win!

Some of you may remember that I wondered about the Yankees’ future back in February, sought answers from Santa Barbara-based tarot card reader Patricia Diorio, and wrote about the reading in The New York Times.
While Patricia did predict the Yanks would win the 2009 World Series all those months ago, I needed reassurance on the eve of Game 6. So I went to see her this afternoon – with the She-Fan Cam in hand. The reading is split in two parts. Yes, they’re long by YouTube standards. But if you want the whole story, here it is. God, I hope she’s right about everything.
I will now go to sleep visualizing Yankees pouring out of the dugout, jumping all over each other on the field, spraying champagne in the clubhouse, waving to people during the parade, all of it. Sweet dreams.

  1. latinyankeerebel

Well, I’m having a Champagne Party to watch the game later on today… Veuve de Cliquot… love it. It’s chilling and it will be so worth it. Here is to #27!! Let’s Go Yankees! :0)

  2. cheshirecat9

latinyankeerebel I also have a bottle of bubbly chilling in the fridge. This is it Yankees, time to finish the job! Go Pettitte! Go Yanks!!!

  3. ooaooa

Over here on the right side of the country we don’t need cards or tellers to determine results. We know that “confidence is high” and the bubbly will flow (Diet Pepsi for me) very soon. I look for Tex and Robbie to break out of their funk and 5 strong from Andy followed by a piece by piece to Mo. My radio will be set on 880 and the melodic tones of “Ballgame over, Yankees win” will be bellowing from John Sterling about 12:30 am Thursday morning. You don’t need turkey clubs or pizza. I have it covered tonight! You can bank on this.

SO excited for tonite ..will be tweeting from game tonite(barring battery issues) . I don’t know what I will do for enjoyment after this season over..I look forward to your blog every morning to either cheer me up from a loss or make me even happier post win…(Hopefully tomorrow = post win) SO GO YANKEES!!!! and thanks to you Jane for all your words. See ya tomorrow morning !!!

I never predict. Never positively, anyway…WAAAY too superstitious. Sometimes, a quiet confidence will take over, and I won’t admit to how I’m REALLY feeling, and that’s as far as I can go. Guess I’m afraid of disrespecting the opposition and getting smacked back. But I truly LOVE your faith in all this stuff…months ago, I quoted an old Chambers Brothers tune, “Have A Little Faith (In The One You Love).” Works for me. Either it happens tonight, or…well…just don’t want to entertain the alternatives, thankyouverymuch. But a couple of little things have gone right already, which is a good sign (Mrs. YH even apologized last nite for her ranting…ladies, I know how hard it is to admit to your ever-in-the-wrong husband that, okay, well, once a month, maybe…mistakes will happen) — and with peace in the homestead (for now), LET’S GO!

Whichever game it is, 6 or 7, it would be a tribute to our amazing season for it to be a walk-off victory. If so, I think the whole team should pie A.J., regardless of who hits the walk off.

Dave, I’m going to be humming that song all day – hope its good luck.

Andy has never won the final game of the W.S. but he’s been in a lead role and in the post-season for years with a better winning percentage than any other pitcher. But you know the Phillies won’t just lie down. Its going to be a very exciting game – we HAVE TO get to Pedro much better than we did in his last outing – I want him out of the game by the 4th inning and I want to hit their bull pen like its batting practice. GO YANKEES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have outdone yourself, at least since I have been following you. I knew there were two articles I read by you so thanks for the link. Don’t you think that she is saying that you will be going to the parade?

Andy said he won because he had so many people praying for him.

  8. ladyjane303

Getting nervous as game time approaches, but Champagne is chilling in my fridge, too. I’ll be at the game tonight (Gayle, too) and hoping, praying to be able to toast when I get home. I feel good about Andy starting – he started the game when we clinched the Eastern division and when we won the ALDS, so it makes sense to have him out there tonight. Nobody tougher in these situations. Don’t want a game 7 – we’re all thinking the same thing “let’s get to Pedro early and often”. Diane – it would be great to see AJ or anyone else get one more pie, but honestly, can any of us stand the pressure of another walkoff at this point. Let’s win big! No doubts! Go Yankees!!!!

  9. peggy3

Dave …how about the Chambers Brothers songs “Time Will Come Today” with the Yankees winning tonight and then there will be lots of “Love, Peace & Happiness” for the fans in New York and the fans everywhere. Maybe not too much peace tho’ with all the excitement but definitely lots of LOVE for this team and happiness for everyone involved with the Yankees.

Jane…I can’t seem to get YouTube to work on this darn computer..keeps stopping every two words but if your
tarot card reader prediction comes true I will paraphrase the Cowardly Lion by saying “I do believe in tarot card readers, I do believe in tarot card readers….I do, I do, I do believe in tarot card readers”.

I’ll be at Mickey Mantle’s to watch with a bunch of my Yankee friends. If you can’t be at the game where else
but Mickey’s named for the greatest Yankee of all (at least in my opinion). I’m looking for Tex to have a BIG game tonight and for Andy to close it out just like he did in the ALDS and ALCS. I’m so excited and can’t wait for the

    Go Yankees 2009 !!

  10. Jane Heller

That’s a pretty fine champagne you’ve got chilling, latinyankeerebel. I hope the prices are better in Panama! I’m much too superstitious to have champagne on ice, but I’ll go get some if the Yankees pull this off. And I’ll drink a toast to you.

Len, I use that Mariano Duncan slogan all the time. It’s the perfect way to approach this game, so I’ll say it all day long!

Cheshirecat, you’ve got the champagne chilling too? Maybe I’d better get cracking on it then!

Good job covering your part of the country, John. I was done with the pizza after the loss in Game 5 – no more “lucky food.” I would love to see Tex have a big game at the plate. Robbie too. And I hope you do hear Sterling’s dulcet tones proclaiming victory!

Cheravola, I’ll be tweeting during the game too, so I’ll “see” you later. I can’t even bring myself to think about all those days and nights without baseball, so I’ll enjoy tonight with everything I’ve got. Thanks so much for reading the blog, but don’t say goodbye or I’ll start crying.

Glad to help, Israel. Don’t be nervous. Patricia says we all have to visualize them winning and think positively!

Your YH wife apologized? Hey, Dave, that’s huge – a shift in the universe. HAHA. So it must mean the Yankees will win tonight. I’m superstitious too, you know that, but we need to think positively, as I just wrote to Israel, and there’s no disrespect to the opposition in doing so; Phillies fans are doing the same thing!

Diane, I would love to see AJ get a pie in the face – just as a great gesture of all the fun he’s brought to the team with his pranks. But a walk-off? I don’t know if I could take it. I’d MUCH rather win by getting runs earlier in the game and making them hold up – not an easy feat, by any means, given the hot-hitting Utley and others. Pedro pitched very well last time, so I hope we’ll have more success with him tonight.

Patricia and I did talk a lot about the parade, Laurie. She spotted the parade guy on the card before I even explained that there WAS a parade for the winning team, so I found that interesting. And I couldn’t believe there was a champagne bucket in the card too. So I’m focusing on it all coming true!

I feel very good knowing you and Gayle will be there tonight. You two have brought the Yankees luck, so I want to hear you scream with joy! I loved the pic of the ball that Mo tossed to you. I thought it was adorable the way you were holding it so carefully, as if it were a precious jewel, which it is! Have a great time!!!!!

Peggy, I’ll picture you at Mickey’s with all your friends, cheering every pitch. I hope Tex has a big game, but this one is on Andy and whether he can grind out another one for us. According to Patricia, the answer is yes. We shall see. Have fun tonight!

  11. rrrt

We shall see, Jane. I was practicing MY visualizing Monday night as well. Even enlisted the husband and kids. After Rollins and Victorino got on base, I said I was picturing a 3-run homer, and my husband said “You’re being greedy” as Utley stepped in, and boom! Hmm, I better work hard at thinking positively tonight :-). Looking forward to an exciting game, whatever the outcome is.
    Rants, Raves, and Random Thoughts

We finish this tonight! My mantra today is, hit early and often. Can’t wait to see Jeter raise his fist in the air, Jorge hand the ball to Mo, and and Mo look up at the sky. Thanks Jane for the wonderful post!

  13. Jane Heller

Jenn, I will hop over to your blog right now. I bet your pics are great. I don’t want the season to be over either, but one way or another we have some long months coming up without our beloved teams.

Sue, your visualizing worked on Monday so you must have done an excellent job! Our brain waves will be going at it big time tonight. It sounds exhausting, doesn’t it? LOL.

That’s a GREAT scene to visualize, yankeeinutah. I love it. Jeter doing his fist pump, Jorge running up to give Mo the ball, Mo looking up at the sky….AND the whole team converging on the field in joyous celebration. I’m really hoping for that.

I didn’t have a chance to visit Surf Dog yesterday, Buz, so I’ll have to get his thoughts tomorrow post-Game 6. One way or the other, I’m sure he won’t be shy about telling me what’s on his mind. LOL.

  14. Buz

OMG! I read the article.. smokes, the gal was spot on. AJ.. hmmm… Tex.. .let’s see tonight. Although… let me caution you.. the way I read it .. CC wins it for them and Tex has a big Game 7 : ) What does the Hot Dog Prognosticator say? chuckle.

    Buz –

  15. peggy3

Jane …I wish you could be at Mickey’s with us…I know how much you loved the Mick like I did …

Dave …correction on the Chambers Brothers song’s “Time HAS Come Today” and it will as soon as the Yankees win it !!! I really have to start proof reading my comments … :o).

I can’t stand this waiting …I just want the game to start. I’m lucky the bosses are out because I could NEVER concentrate on work today.

    Go Yankees 2009 !!!!

  16. Jane Heller

I’ll be there in spirit, Peggy. You know I will. Take a pic with your Yankee buddies and I’ll post it. The waiting is so hard. I know today will be another washout, work wise. It’s so hard to concentrate on anything but the game tonight!

  17. peggy3

Jane….I didn’t bring a camera and my cell camera doesn’t work …if someone else has a camera I’ll ask them to take a pic and send it on.

My stomach is doing flipflops all day…I don’t think I could take a game 7 so I sure hope they win tonight. All these years later who would have thought it would be another BIG game with Pedro vs Andy….I just hope Pedro can call Andy his Daddy tonight and we can call our Yankees …World Series Champs !!!

    Go Yankees 2009 !!!!

  18. Jane Heller

I never could have imagined Andy versus Pedro in 2009, Peggy. It just goes to prove that talent is ageless! (I like to think so anyway.)

BIg hits by the Yanks, early and often. I really want to enjoy the game and not be overcome by anxiety.
    My song for the day:
    Tonight from West Side Story

Today, all day I had the feeling
    A miracle would happen
I know now I was right

    For here you are
And what was just a world is a star

    Tonight, tonight
The world is full of light
With suns and moons all over the place

    Tonight, tonight
The world is wild and bright
    Going mad
    Shooting sparks into space

Today, the world was just an address
A place for me to live in
    No better than all right

    But here you are
And what was just a world is a star

I’m hoping that by the end of the evening, we can sing to Teixiera (or Jeter, or ARod or Robbie, or Jorge, or Swishy, or Brett, or Damon):

    But here you are
And what was a world series made you a star

  20. Jane Heller

I hope so too, Ellen. As we get closer to game time, I’m reminding myself of what she said and picturing only good things. She said the win wouldn’t come easily, but as long as it comes I’ll be happy.

“Tonight Tonight” is a song I haven’t heard since I was a little kid when my mother took me to see “West Side Story” on Broadway, Melissa. So you brought back nice memories. Let’s hope the Yankees give us even better memories and that we’ll all be singing later!

  21. Jane Heller

I know how you feel, Emma, but I don’t want it to go 7 games or I’ll have a breakdown. You don’t want that, do you?????

  22. Jane Heller

I sure hope your feeling is right, Randy. I’d be happy to take a champagne bath. Right now it’s 0-0 in the top of the second.

  23. Jane Heller

We did it, Jimmy! Oh, boy! #27 happened just the way we’d hoped it would at the beginning of the season. So excited and I know you must be too. Congratulations to you.

I did pop the bubbly, YHH. Take a look at tonight’s post! THE YANKEES WIN!!!!!!!
