While I Sit At JFK….
It’s absolutely pouring outside. I’m trying not to freak out, but how will the pilot be able to fly the plane?

Speaking of which, the TV at our gate is now showing BREAKING NEWS about the Continental pilot who died en route to Newark from Brussels. The two first officers are in charge and, hopefully, will make a safe and uneventful landing within the next few minutes.
“But visibility in the New York area isn’t good,” said the guy from CNN.
DUH. I’m looking out the window and there’s nothing but this out there!

Nevertheless, they’re calling us to board now. Will write a full post about my trip to Yankee Stadium with pics and videos when I get home!
OMG! How cruel to be showing that video at the airport. Good thing I don’t watch TV at airports unless is a game. I use the computer or read or text. I was remembering this guy that was saying that he just takes a plane and automatically falls asleep. The more turbulence, the better he sleeps because he says he feels like they are rocking him to sleep. crazy guy. Have a safe trip home!

Hope you have a safe flight..
It was really good to meet you yesterday.. Bummer about the game though.. [Maybe next time you come to New York I’ll be able to go to the game.. the Yanks only lost one of the 6ish games I’ve gone to this year.. and it was a Boston game, but since they just can’t beat them period, it doesn’t count, lol..]
I’m like 130 pages into your book.. It’s been a while since I read a book nonstop like that.. It’s really addicting, and I’m not just saying that. Good stuff =)

it’s pouring in DC as well… safe flight backhome! :0)
Jane,
I hope that all goes well on the flight, I’m sure it will. Can’t wait to hear your time about Yankee Stadium.

Thankfully the Continental flight landed safely. And the Yankees game is still in rain delay.

Dive to Maine today was bad enough in the rain but those Red Sox license plates driving through Mass. turned my stomach.
Our friends that owned the Towne Lyne Motel in Ogunquit had two surprises for us this afternoon. They now have internet and they gave us a beautiful Yankee license plate with all the championship years lazor cut on to it. It is really nice and will go well in my museum at home.
At dinner, I saw a young man with a Yankee warmup on and it made for great digestion. Hope your trip was fun.
Scratch that, I just finished it.. and it was greeeatttt. It actually had me laugh out loud a couple times, lol 😉 I really loved it.
Probably my favorite part [that is so the epitome of yankee fan frustration]: saying “He can go f*ck himself too” about the 7 year old kid, lmao.. That is true fan to me, lol.

I hope the flight goes well. Kinda hard to get around that rain. It only engulfed the whole eastern seaboard! Not a good day to be flying, I feel for ya.

Jane, I hope you had a safe flight home! I wish I could have gone to yesterday’s game so I could meet you. If you’re planning on doing any book signings in the DC area, I hope you’ll post the info here…I’ll definitely be there!

Emma, I made it home! My husband is just like the guy you mentioned. He goes right to sleep during turbulence, even though I’m digging my fingernails in his arm.
V, I’m so glad you had fun with the book. You really did read it fast! I can picture you laughing, now that I’ve met you. Really happy you came last night.
Thanks for your good thoughts, everybody. The flight was LONG and one of the worst I’ve ever been on, in terms of turbulence, but I survived. I guess there were weather problems all over the country today. It was really bad over Kansas!
John, enjoy your time in Maine – and your new Yankees license plate!
I’m glad you made it home safely Jane. I feel better knowing that you made it! I can’t wait to see your posts on the trip, and I can’t WAIT to see what you have to say about this series loss to The Nationals. I just had full on vent/rage fest on my blog. Urgh.
Welcome back to CA!

I always take Greyhound but that’s another type of Huck Finn adventure to experience. That game was bad. I mean it was really, really, really, bad. Good night and good luck.
Thanks, Vanessa. I share your sour taste for today’s game (and the whole series). I’m actually glad I was flying so I couldn’t watch it. Reading about it was sickening enough. But now to sleep so I can post at full throttle tomorrow.
The game sounded really, really, really bad, Len. It deserves serious examination, but one thing’s for sure: A-Rod hasn’t had a single day off since he came back from surgery. Why is that? So strange, and it’s really starting to hurt the team.
It’d be the makings of a great book if the She-Fan had to land the plane because the crew was dead. If you survived to write it, that is.

Good luck with the plane ride! Hope it goes smoothly for you. Looking forward to reading more about your trip!

I was thinking I might have to do just that, Paul. Great material, right?
The flight was bumpy but otherwise uneventful, Jenn. The post about my signing and trip to the Stadium is up now.
Thanks, Kaybee. I survived!
